Senior Counsel

Janell Mayo Duncan joined CU in June of 2000. She focuses on advocacy issues relating to health and product safety, and provides legal counsel to Consumers Union and Consumer Reports on various issues. Before CU, Janell was an associate with the law firm of Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin & Kahn, PLLC where she focused her practice in the areas of food and drug, product safety, and advertising law. Prior to Arent Fox, Janell served as an Assistant Chief Counsel for Enforcement in the FDA's Office of the Chief Counsel. She is a cum laude graduate of Wellesley College, with a B.A. in political science and psychology. She received her law degree from Harvard Law School.
