Consumers Union, and other consumer groups, have been calling for credit-card reform for years. This GAO report confirms the need for simplified pricing that consumers can better understand, and the importance of stopping abusive credit-card pricing practices.
Here's a link to a recent MSNBC article, along with a link to the GAO report and a podcast of an interview with Gail Hillebrand, Senior Attorney and Campaign Manager for Financial Privacy Now.

Hi,
I have a CC that was issued through MSNB now owned by Bank of America and here's my take on this CC Companies practices.
My due date tends to jump all over the place from 27th to the 29th the 31st to the 28th etc I can never keep up with it and regulating it to memory because of that as I pay everthing online and skip the paper billing route.
So even tho I never miss a payment I'm from time to time late a day or two,but remember I never ditch a payment as I do try to stay current, in Sep I was late that which put me Over the limit, so I sent in Oct to BOA $400.00 then in Nov $ 135.00 and DEc 130.00 for a total of $635.00 and now I get a billing i'm over the limit again for Jan.
It's not like i'm purposely ingnoring payment each mo I do try to make them on time, but with a very busy schedule I do pay a day or two late, but it's not like I'm a deadbeat and I have a credit score of 735.
But, what really pisses me off is the outrageous interest rate they now hit me with because I'm a day or two late, %30 even tho I always pay, then on top of that $30.00 late fee and $39.00 over-the-limit fee, this amounts to triple punishment. I'm all for those who keep currant getting lower % but to triple punish you is shameful.
Call one of the CC Co. and see how stubborn and rude they are. They treat you like a deadbeat, and that you trying to steal them blind.
In closing Congress has got to get a handle on how CC co's do business and treat there card holder's, They can, cancel a card whenever they feel like needing no excuse, raising interest to what ever rate they want when ever thye want justified or not, charging late fees, overthelimit fees, tranfers fees and who knows what other fees needs to stop as the consummer has no leverage with a CC Co. The leverage is ALL on their side, hell it's even hard to file bankruptcy now on them if your buried under debt with them and this situation is outrageous and shamful and in many caes their action brings on the late pays and bankruptcies. This is kind of abuse the american c-card holder is subject to, and it needs to STOP!. Hell. I'm surprised they don't charge a fart fee for carrying their card to close to that source.
Sincerely Yours,
Phil Grove
