Pennsylvania, It's Time to Freeze Posted by Michelle at 12/04/06 12:05 PM

Your credit that is--starting January 1, 2007. SB 180, a security freeze bill, was signed into law last week by Governor Rendell.

The security freeze enables you to freeze your credit files from unwanted new accounts--which helps to block out identity thieves from wrecking havoc on your identity and finances.

How do you go about placing the security freeze?
1. Make a request to the 3 large credit bureaus: Equifax, Transunion and Experian.
2. Pay a fee unless you're an identity theft victim (provide required documentation).
3. Provide other necessary documentation.
