Would you like that burger without the credit card fraud? Posted by Michelle at 03/12/07 06:13 PM

Ruby Tuesday, the large restaurant chain, has taken a big step in avoiding having to tell customers about data security breaches since they will no longer be storing customer's credit card information.

Beginning in mid-April, customers' credit card information will be encrypted while it goes straight to the bank using an ultra-secure credit card processing system. Other restaurants are exploring this option as well.

To date, over a 100 million records have been reported as lost or stolen in data security breaches since February 2005. We hope that more restaurants and retailers will follow suit to what Ruby Tuesday has done here, and will do more to protect their customers' data.
