A new documentary film, “Overdrawn,” provides a humorous yet sobering look at the issue of hidden banking fees associated with common banking practices.

Drawing upon his personal experience as well as those of others, the film’s director, Karney Hatch, exposes an intricate maze of bait and switch traps developed by the American banking industry. These traps, such as “overdraft protection,” cost consumers billions of dollars in fees, late charges and penalties each year, often times for services they never agreed to or even requested.

Overdrawn exposes dubious banking practices, which, when seen in the harsh light of day, are clearly better suited to criminal loan sharking. Through a series of interviews with consumer advocates including Ralph Nader, interspersed with real life banking fee horror stories, Overdrawn reveals how the current state of affairs came into existence and explores the prescription for change being put forward in the halls of power by consumer advocates.

I found this blog today via an article in today's Wall Street Journal about identity theft. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you have a link to my blog, AllFinancialMatters (although your link is for All Things Financial). Thanks for the link.

I returned the favor by placing a small banner ad on my blog.

Take care,

JLP
