Looks like there's a bigger storm brewing on the cloned food front. Organic labeling policy does not currently prohibit milk and meat derived from clones from carrying the organic label.

Mercury & Tuna -- better safe than...

Consumers Union is reinforcing its advice that pregnant women take the precautionary measure to avoid canned tuna and young children minimize exposure. The two new reports fail to specifically address the unique risks of mercury posed to pregnant women and young children, especially with regard to tuna.

Hats off to California for taking the lead on another important food safety issue. Governor Schwarzenegger recently signed into law a bill that ends secrecy agreements between federal and state food officials.
