With a little less help from my friends Posted

One would think that the federal government would welcome any competent help to assure the safety of the nation’s food supply, but no.....
A tiny little provision of the voluminous farm bill would cut states out of the food safety equation for food products inspected by or determined to be unregulated by USDA. Section 123 of the farm bill appears to be targeted at states and localities that have regulated genetically engineered crops or acted on behalf of animal welfare by passing laws and ordinances prohibiting the sale of foie gras or the slaughter of horses for human food.
The 110 year old Association of Food and Drug officials is concerned that the provision would tie the hands of state and local food officials dealing with listeria and e-coli in post inspected products. Given the high profile food contamination events of the past year one has to wonder what Congress is thinking?
You can go here to tell Congress to kill this provision. Go here to read the letter we sent along with 40 other organizations to the House Agriculture Committee.

agree, seems the fed does more watching the borders for illegals than it does for junk in foodstuffs, and any south american illegal will detail that about the only thing done by federaliaes at border is to keep concerned states and citizens from effectively controlling the borders... ditto for imports.... has USA become another bannana republic for dumping chinese products... if left to walmart, the answer will be yes.
