Enough is Enough- Sick of bad peanut butter puns Posted

Tell Congress that we need a major overhaul of the Food and Drug Administration!
King Nut and Parnell's Pride brands, produced in a single Georgia factory, were found to be contaminated with a potentially deadly strain of salmonella and are now being recalled nationwide.
Not sold in supermarkets, these brands are widely used in nursing homes, schools, hospitals and other institutions that care for our most vulnerable family members. Salmonella is particularly dangerous for the elderly.
Despite national media attention, many institutions may not know if their peanut butter needs to go. Consumers Union has contacted nursing home trade associations to formally inquire what they are doing to alert their member institutions about the need to remove all supplies of this peanut butter from their kitchens.
You can help make sure your loved ones are safe!
If you have a loved one in a home or assisted living facility that serves meals, or a child in school, please contact the school or facility to ask these questions:
1. Have they checked their kitchen for these two brands?
2. Have they discarded or returned any supplies they may have.
3. In addition to these two brands of peanut butter, cookies, crackers, ice cream and candy use ingredients supplied by this factory and have also been recalled. Have they checked the recall list and gotten rid of any other recalled items? For FDA's list of all recalled products click here.

These scares pop up too often—and people get sick and die. We need the FDA to act now.
