Ask President Obama to Make Sure Peanut Butter is Safe in ‘Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day’ Activity Posted by Tim at 04/21/09 05:20 PM

Thousands of children across the country are gearing up to go into work with Mom and Dad as part of the national ‘Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” on Thursday, April 23, 2009. At the Consumers Union HQ in Yonkers, kids of CU employees are going to write to President Obama and urge him to ensure peanut butter is safe. We are hoping that you will join us and encourage your daughters, sons, nieces, nephews and any other possible peanut butter eaters to write in to the President.

One of our most basic jobs as citizens is to make our views known to our elected representatives on important issues that we care about. And what can be more important than the safety of what we eat? In the last six months, hundreds of American children got sick by eating contaminated peanut products. Like 4 year old David Krieger who got sick from eating peanut butter crackers while on his family vacation.

It can be a good step, I read about the death of a child because of peanut butter,President Obama should have a good eye on the FDA.
