We're hoping to learn more about your Senator's position on this bill, and improve your experience when you help us make drugs safer. They will vote on S. 1082 this week. Call now! Tell us about your experience calling your Senate office.

Did the staff person seem interested? Did you learn that your Senator supports drug safety reform?

Did they ask any questions you didn't feel comfortable answering? Post the question here and we'll get a quick answer posted in this comment string. Then, you can call the office back if you like!

Neither call was interesting to me. Each polite and pleasant male voice listened to me and simply said "ok" and that was the end of it.
If all he does is pass on the number of callers, it may be enough. If he also passes on a point of view from the callers, then it wasn't enough.
Next time I'll ask questions of the person on the phone....that is usually what I've done and think it makes a better impact - on my end anyway.

I appreciate my Senators more and more each day. The staff politely and patiently answered my call.
They carefully recorded the information--I know that because they asked and answered additional questions.

My Senators' offices were polite and cordial they both took my name and address and assured me they would pass on my request to vote for Drug Safety Reform.

The male aide listened, noted my comments and thanked me for calling. I intentionally did not ask any questions because responses by political aides, like their principal, rarely commit themself to anything meaningful.

I called both my senators. The receptionist in both offices only said they would pass my request on to the senator. No questioning from them at all. Makes one wonder if they actually care.

This is my first time calling a Senator office. It was very interesting. You may also want to provide a TDD/TTY number for those of us who are impaired. Otherwise, email may be fine. But I think a TTD/TTY call may have more impact. There are other options for the hearing challenged such as relay services, etc. that you should look into. Thank you.

I hope my Senators, Feinstein and Boxer, will
surprise me by both voting to support S. 1082.

I called both offices late on Friday, May 4,
and Feinstein's office said she was still taking
voter's views into consideration.
Boxer's L.A. office said they didn't know her
position on the bill. I told them my family has
been destroyed by the lack of quality and
reliability of prescription thyroid-replacement
drugs since 1982, when the FDA and drug co's
seemed to stop caring about such matters.
Both Senators have ignored my requests for
help regarding this issue in the past; I hope
they will try to at least do the right thing
this time around by voting Yes on S. 1082.

I called the office of Senator Schumer and a male answered the phone and told me he would pass on my message to support S1082 and hung up the phone without even asking me for my name or any information. He immediately just hung up the phone. How will our support get through without such information?

When I called Senator McCain's office, I was sent to his messaging. I left a message encouraging support and it was over.
When I called Senator Kyle's office, a young man answered who seemed to be interested; and he seemed to be familiar with S1082. I not only encouraged support for S1082 and opposition to amendments that watered it down, but I relayed the story of my daughter's death due to the untoward effects of her medication. I have no idea if any of it will be passed on to Senator Kyle. I know I can rest assured that pharmacy industry lobbyists have had one on one time with both senators
