To help consumers understand how large some blind spots are, Consumer Reports has measured the blind spots of a number of popular models. The results, some blind zones measure 50 feet behind the vehicle. Click here for our Consumer Reports results. Rear visibility devices: You can purchase different kinds of technology designed to see more clearly around your car, but not every technology is equally effective at preventing backover accidents. Safer power windows: Consumer Reports has also looked at power window technologies--the windows that are safest for your family and those that are not. Take a look at our power window safety information! Bottom line: Your best defense against backover accidents is to get out of your vehicle and check behind it just before you back up.
