Mel Trevino, Consumers Union's Activist Development Specialist, recently flew to Chicago to help at a public Toy Fair. She worked with several CU Activists and mom bloggers from MomViews.net, who she described as "dynamic, energetic and a fun group of women to work with." It was a great opportunity to meet each other, collect ideas, and work side by side with great people.
They got a chance to brainstorm together on financial and health problems and came up with many potential solutions we hope to implement and support. Some of the ideas included teaching kids about real life stories with finances, and getting hospitals to inform consumers about their services and the costs involved. One of our activists, Tyrease Dixon, made a very important comment, “You have to meet people where they are.” We love that you are doing just that—taking time out of your busy schedules to educate people in your daily life to coordinate change!
