Consumers Union is asking Senators to halt the
rapid advance of a bill that could make it nearly
impossible for consumers to compare the quality
of care provided by doctors and hospitals, as
well as keep hospital infection rates from becoming
public.

Banking Committee Fails to Protect Consumers'
Financial Privacy (Oct. 2003).
The Senate Banking Committee approved a
bill that does nothing to prevent consumers’
personal information from being spread among
thousands of affiliated financial institutions,
leaving them vulnerable to identity theft, unwanted
marketing, discrimination and fraud.
