Jim Guest, President of Consumers Union, addresses summit participants. The summit was the first time that many of us working together for years met face-to-face. Our talented group shared a passion for a quality health care system.

Consumers Union brought 24 activists from all over the country to New York for the Safe Health Care Now! Summit in January 2008, many whom have been personally affected by hospital infections or prescription drug side effects. Their work extended across the health care spectrum, including drug safety, stopping medical errors, fighting for public disclosure of hospital-acquired infections, and patient safety. We proposed ideas and shared experiences that will move our health care safety work into the future.
