Facing Our Fears
Facing Our Fears
Consumer Reports, December 1996
Measuring risk is a tricky business. But the public may have something to teach the experts. This Consumer Reports article is a primer on risk perception. It examines why consumers worry more about some things and less about others. A critique of cost-benefit analysis and of the "Regulatory Reform" proposals in Congress in late 1996 are given. Some of those proposals are still alive and relevant.
