Reforms of the medical malpractice system should not punish the victims whose lives have been irreparably damaged by wrongdoing. Efforts should be focused on the true causes of increased medical malpractice premiums for doctors and solutions crafted around them, including increased discipline of the small number of physicians responsible for most malpractice claims and examination of insurance industry pricing practices.
