Starting January 1, 2007, consumers in Illinois, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin can use a security freeze to thwart identity thieves. Victims of identity theft in Hawaii and Kansas also got that right in the new year.
