Comments to the Consumer Product Safety Commission In Response to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for Baby Bath Seats

CU continues to believe that, based upon the history of these products, the most prudent approach would be to ban all bath seats. There is some evidence, based upon the research of Dr. Kimberly Thompson, that the use of bath seats may, on balance, result in fewer deaths among children aged 6 to 9 months. However, this study's conclusions are based upon many unproven assumptions which render them unpersuasive.
