Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act

The “Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act (S.720 and HR663) could preempt state laws on hospital quality and patient safety laws. There are basically three categories of relevant state reporting laws: (1) hospital-acquired infection reporting laws; (2) medical errors/adverse event reporting laws and (3) medical outcomes reporting laws.
