Consumers Union's Prop 79 animation released! Posted by mitcka at 10/28/05 05:40 PM

Yesterday, we launched a new kind of project -- but one that we're trying out more and more. In support of Prop 79 we put together "Medicine City," a short Sin City spoof on the battle between big pharma on one side and most of the consumer, senior and health groups in California on the other.

Take a look and tell your friends! www.consumersunion.org/MedicineCity

And when you're done, please take a moment to add your name to the petition in support of Prop 79. By election day we want to show that Californians can see through the haze of misleading TV ads to the truth about Prop 79!

This isn't the first animation project produced by Consumers Union to get the word out about important prescription drug issues. Earlier this year we released "The Drugs I Need," an animated song about prescription drug safety and the direct-to-consumer TV ads about prescription drugs that saturate the airwaves. That animation has now been seen by over 2 million people around the world, and has helped us promote prescription drug safety reforms in Congress.

Just a comment on the medicine city animation. Although it was very creative and very well done, it really did not clarify any questions people might have about the differences between Prop. 78 and 79. Particularly for older consumers who would not relate to that kind of animation. I have been supporting your campagain and hung door hangers in my neighborhood but the couple of friends I sent the animation to asked me what it was about.
